Unplugging from Social Media for Dry July 2021

🤔 When was the last time you sacrificed something for a month?

Alcohol... Sugar... Convenience foods... Social media... Comparison... Judgment... anything that isn't serving your mind, body or soul?

Dry July is a fundraiser that encourages you to go alcohol-free in July to raise funds for people affected by cancer.

Whilst I broke up with alcohol for the LAST time six years ago, and sugar about two years, I often need to detox from social media.

Last week, I checked my weekly screen time and it was four hours average a day. And this was down from five hours a few weeks prior.

That’s the equivalent of a part-time job 🤯

🤔 This made me stop and think:

💭 Why am I using socials so much?

💭 What need is it serving?

💭 What could I be doing instead?"

Yes, social media is used for business. Yet there's a fine line between focused social media scheduling, 'networking' and procrastiscrolling.

A week ago I deleted ALL socials from my phone, and the latest screen time shows a 42% reduction from this single effort alone.

So... for the month of July, I'll be off socials entirely.
I'm unplugging to reconnect with my intuition and creativity. To savour the moment, with my loved ones and inner self.
